台北駅構内、中央吹抜けに面する菜食レストランの計画。
オーナーシェフである、”お母さんのキッチン”をイメージし、タイル張りのオープンカウンターと中が見渡せるキッチンをつくった。中央吹抜けに向かって視線が抜けるように間口を広くし、人々をそのキッチンへと迎え入れるような構えとした。またその延長に、皆で一緒に食事ができるような大きなテーブルを設けた。駅構内という場所柄、旅人も多く、短い時間での食事ではあるが、台湾の食材や、ここに集まる人々との出会いの場になることを目指した。一品一品、心をこめて作られる食事。丁寧な手仕事によって並べられたタイルにその思いを込めた。
A plan of a vegetarian restaurant located inside Taipei train station.
Since the owner/chef had imagined a restaurant with “a motherly warmth”, we designed a tile clad open counter and a kitchen which can be seen from the tables. The view opens toward the central atrium of the station, beckoning customers toward the restaurant. Also, at the end of the restaurant there is a big table where many people can gather and dine. Even though the restaurant is located inside a major terminal and most customers are in between travels, we aim to create a place of encounters with both people and the local foods. The aligned tiles reflect the preciseness and delicateness of the cuisines.
